Addison Russell and the Peach Tree City National Travel Team (GA) competed at Cooperstown Dreams Park during the N.A.T.C. in 2006. Addison helped his team reach the championship game where they fell to Team Anderson (CA), 7-6.

Addison’s baseball career continued at Pace High School (Milton, FL) where he led his team to a class 5A FHSAA baseball state championship in 2010 and finished as a runner-up in 2012. During his senior year (2012), Addison recorded a .368 batting average and .532 on base percentage. He was also a member of the school’s football team.

In addition to his baseball scholastic team, Addison played in the 2010 Under Armour All-America baseball game and was a member of the USA Baseball 18U National Team at the 2011 COPABE 18U/AAA Pan American games that won a gold medal. His accolades include being named a Perfect Game Aflac All-American Game participant and a Louisville Slugger First Team All- American (2011).

Addison signed a letter of intent to attend and play baseball at Auburn University (Auburn, AL) but opted to make the leap to professional baseball when he was selected as the 11th overall pick by the Oakland Athletics in the 2012 Major League Baseball draft. On July 4, 2014, Addison was traded to the Chicago Cubs where he made his major league debut on April 21, 2015. By the 2016 All-Star Game, Addison was the starting short stop for the Cubs and was named an All-Star. He then went on to help the Cubs with the 2016 World Series.
