Sandy Almon and the Georgia Titans (GA) competed at Cooperstown Dreams Park in 2005 during Week 5.

Sandy continued to play organized baseball after her team’s trip to Cooperstown Dreams Park. As a freshman in high school at North Cobb High School (Kennesaw, GA), Sandy played junior varsity baseball. She was also a member of the girls’ varsity basketball team. Prior to her senior year of high school, Sandy transferred to Mount Pisgah Christian School (Johns Creek, GA).

While at Mount Pisgah Christian School (Johns Creek, GA), Sandy made a name for herself on both the softball and baseball fields as well as the basketball court. Playing third base, she was considered one of the region’s best defensive softball players and attracted interest from several colleges, including Georgia. This was the first year Sandy played fast-pitch softball. Remarkably, she hit a grand slam during her first appearance at the plate. Mount Pisgah posted its best softball record (22-11) in school history, won the Region 5-A regular season title and advanced to the second round of the state playoffs.

On the hardwood, Sandy was a co-captain and led the team with an average of 11 points, 1.6 assists and 1.8 steals per game. She was second on the squad with 9.1 rebounds per game. Sandy was named Honorable Mention All-Region 5-A.

Sandy also made an impact on the baseball field for Mount Pisgah as a pitcher and a part-time third baseman. Despite throwing against boys, Sandy was poised and controlled, throwing 85-miles per hour fastballs. Sandy helped the baseball team to a 14-10 record, the school’s first winning season and the best record in the school’s Georgia High School Association history.

In addition to baseball, softball and basketball, Sandy was a member of the Mount Pisgah track and field team. She currently holds the shot put record.

After her 2011 high school graduation, Sandy was named to the 2011 USA Women’s National Baseball Team. She also joined the Chicago Pioneers, a traveling women’s baseball squad. Sandy and the Pioneers won the 2011 Eastern Women’s Baseball Conference Diamond Classic (Alexandra, VA) in May of 2011 and were the Women’s Division Champions of the World Series #23 in Ft. Myers, FL., in November of the same year.
