Jeff graduated from Shaker High School (Latham, NY). A three-time baseball lettermen, he was captain his junior and senior years. From the mound, he led his to its first New York State Championship his senior year. Jeff’s accolades included First-Team N.Y. All-State, Suburban Council Pitcher-of-the-Year, Albany Times Union Pitcher-of-the-Year, Troy Record Player-of-the-Year, First-Team All-Suburban Council selection, and Justin Perry Courage Award. He also played basketball for two seasons. A team caption, his hardwood accolades included Second-Team All-Suburban Council, Pep Sand All-Tournament Team, and Ray Holmes Award.

Jeff continued his education at Eastern Carolina University (Greenville, NC). After three collegiate seasons on the mound for the school’s baseball team, he recorded 25 starts and received Second-Team All C-USA (2012), C-USA All-Freshman Team (2011), Four-time C-USA Pitcher-of-the-Week honors.

Jeff was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2014 Major League Baseball draft. In July 2015, he was traded to the Colorado Rockies where he made his Major League debut on August 20, 2016. After five seasons with the Rockies, Jeff was sent to the Cincinnati Reds in November 2020 then signed with the Philadelphia Phillies in February 2023. He re-signed with the Blue Jays in January 2025 and helped them reach the 2025 World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
