Marcus Stroman

Marcus Stroman competed at Cooperstown Dreams Park during Tournament 11 in 2003 with the Connetquot Chiefs (NY), helping his team advance to the Sweet 16.

Marcus graduated from Patchogue-Medford High School (Medford, NY) where he was a member of the National Honor Society, member of the National Society of High School Scholars, and a four-year letter winner on the diamond and the basketball court. A standout pitcher, his baseball accolades include: Louisville Slugger’s Player of the Year, Gatorade Player of the Year, Paul Gibson Award, Gold Glove Award, Yastrzemski Award, first team All-State, All-League, All-County, All-Long Island, third team All-America. On the court, Marcus was named second team All-Long Island and All-County.

During the 2009 Major League Baseball draft, Marcus was chosen by the Washington Nationals but he chose to continue his education and attend Duke University (Durham, NC) where he played three seasons for the Blue Devils. Marcus became Duke’s first-ever first round pick in school history and the first player from an ACC school taken in the 2012 Major League Baseball draft when the Toronto Blue Jays selected him. He made his Major League debut on May 4, 2014.

Marcus was traded to the New York Mets on July 28, 2019. In December 2021 he joined the Chicago Cubs. Two seasons later, Marcus signed with the New York Yankees on January 17, 2024. He helped the Yankees reach the 2024 World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
