Cody Allen and the Orlando Vipers (FL) competed at Cooperstown Dreams Park in 2001 during week 3. Cody helped the Vipers to the number one seed in the tournament during pool games with a record of 7-0 and 1.00 earned runs allowed per game. The Vipers reached the Elite 8 but fell to the eighth-seeded Astros Select Baseball Club (TX), 5-4.

Cody graduated from Boone High School (Orlando, FL) where he was a four-time All-Conference selection on the diamond. He led his team to the state championship title game on the mound his sophomore year (2005). He was listed as the top underclassman in the 2005 Academic Showcase by Perfect Game USA, both as a third baseman and as a pitcher, and the 25th top prospect in the entire country. In addition to baseball, Cody played four years for the football team as the quarterback, leading them to the Class 6A state semifinals in 2006 and to its first playoff victory in school history as a junior, where he threw a touchdown pass on fourth down to send it to overtime and then another touchdown strike for the win.

Directly out of high school, Cody attended and played baseball at University of Central Florida (Orlando, FL). After two seasons, where Cody redshirted his sophomore year, the pitcher went to St. Petersburg Junior College (St. Petersburg, FL) then he was off to his final collegiate destination at High Point University (High Point, NC) where he was named second team All-Big South and Named Big South Pitcher of the Week (2011).

After his junior collegiate season, Cody was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 23rd round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft. He made his major league debut on July 20, 2012. Cody and the Indians reached the 2016 World Series but fell to the Chicago Cubs in the seventh game.
