David Price played with the Tennessee All Stars (TN) at Cooperstown Dreams Park during the week of July 4th in 1998.

David graduated from Blackman High School (Murfreesboro, TN) where he was a standout on the baseball and basketball teams. David, a left-handed pitcher, was chosen in the 2004 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft but opted to attend and play baseball at Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN). As a freshman (2005) at Vanderbilt, David was honored by both Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball as a Freshman All-American. During his sophomore season (2006) David posted a 9-5 record and was one of five finalists for the Golden Spikes Award, a semifinalist for the Roger Clemens Award, and named to the third-team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, first-team All-South Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association and second-team All-SEC by the conference coaches. David returned to the mound his junior year (2007) and left as the nation’s top strikeout pitcher, recording 194 strikeouts and an 11-1 record. He was awarded the Dick Howser Trophy (college baseball’s top honor) and the Brooks Wallace Award in 2007 along with several other major national awards.

In addition to his collegiate baseball team, David was a member of the United States National Team. In 2005, he went 2-0 with a 1.26 ERA over five games, recording 39 strikeouts. In 2006, David helped the United States win the gold medal in the World University Baseball Championship in Cuba. He started eight games and finished 5-1 with a 0.20 ERA.

David was selected as the number one pick of the 2007 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays. He began his professional career in the minor league but quickly moved through the system to make his major league debut on September 14, 2008. He has remained in the major leagues, being named three times to the all-star team, including the American League starting pitcher for the all-star game in 2010. In 2012, David went 20-5 with a league-leading 2.54 ERA, winning the Cy Young Award. He became the first 20-win pitcher in the Tampa Bay Rays’ franchise and the youngest American League pitcher since 2004 to earn 20 wins. In 2018, David and Boston Red Sox won the World Series, earning the win for game 5 which clinched the series. He was named the 2018 AL Comeback Player of the Year
