Gavin Williams competed at Cooperstown Dreams Park in 2012 during Tournament 5 with SBA Canes Black (NC). Gavin helped lead his team to a 6-0 pool play record and reach the semi-finals during the single-elimination tournament.

Gavin graduated from Cape Fear High School (Fayetteville, NC) where he was a four-year letter winner on the diamond. Gavin was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2017 Major League baseball draft, however, Gavin decided to attend and play baseball at East Carolina University (Greenville, NC).

Majoring in Criminal Justice, Gavin was an eight-time ECU Director of Athletics Honor Roll and four-time American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team selection (2018-21). At the conclusion of his collegiate career, Gavin was selected by the Cleveland Guardians in the 2021 Major League baseball draft. The pitcher made his Major League debut on June 21, 2023. Gavin and the Guardians clinched the 2024 American League Central division.
