Cody Hawn
Cody Hawn was a member of the 2001 Woolsey Yankees (GA). Cody and the Yankees competed during the National American Tournament of Champions (N.A.T.C.) week, taking home the crown with a 5-3 victory over the East Cobb Aztecs (GA) in the title game. Cody also participated in the King of Swat, tying for third place. Cody's baseball career continued to the high school and college levels. He graduated from South Doyle High School (Knoxville, TN). Sidelined his senior year (2007) due to a knee injury, his junior (2006) stats included .564 batting average with 16 home runs and 43 RBIs. As a sophomore (2005) Cody posted a .419 batting average with 11 home runs and 37 RBIs. He hit a total 37 home runs during his high school career. Out of high school, Cody originally signed with the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville, AR) to play baseball and was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 23rd round of the 2007 Major League Baseball amateur draft. However, Cody elected to attend and play baseball at Walters State Community College (Morristown, TN) his freshman year (2008). At Walters State, Cody played in 63 games, batting .401 with 84 runs and 93 hits, including 23 home runs and a team-high 21 doubles and 71 RBI. He helped his squad set single-season school records with 161 team home runs and 620 runs scored. Cody was a 2008 All-TJCCAA first-team selection and named the 2008 TJCCAA Player of the Year. He was then selected in the 41st round of the 2008 Major League Baseball amateur draft by the Oakland Athletics. Instead, Cody transferred to the University of Tennessee (Knoxville, TN). Prior to his start at the University of Tennessee, Cody played in 20 games for the Wilson Tobs of the Coastal Plain League (a summer collegiate baseball league covering the North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia). His first season at the University of Tennessee (sophomore year, 2009), Cody appeared and started in 50 games at first base. He led the team in batting average (.364), home runs (22, 2nd on squad's all-time list), RBI (81), hits (72), doubles (15), and slugging percentage (.773). Cody was the 10th player in Tennessee's history to win the Triple Crown award.
In 2010, Cody was selected in the Major League Baseball first-year player draft by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 6th round. After signing with the Brewers in 2010, Cody was sent to Rookie Ball. He played 65 games with the Helena Brewers (Helena, MT), hitting 13 home runs and driving in 61 runs, helping his team win the league championship. His 2010 accolades include Topps Short-Season/Rookie All-Star, PIO Pos-Season All-Star and PIO Play of the Week. In 2011, Cody played for Class A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Appleton, WI), posting .294 BA with 111 hits. He is currently (2012) playing with the Breward County Manatees in the Florida State League.
